Father Randy Soto, a professor of New Testament at Kenrick-Glennon Seminary in St. Louis, presented to our OCDS community a lecture on Lectio Divina. The practice of Lectio Divina is a devout and prayerful reading of Sacred Scripture. Lectio Divina is the oldest method of prayer with the Word of God in our Catholic Tradition. It began when monastic life started at the end of the second century, and since, it has been perfected and systematized in order to help us in our meditation of Sacred Scripture. Father Soto leads full retreats on Lectio Divina, but was able to share the tip of the iceberg with us in a 1.5 hour lecture.
Father Soto has been since 2012 the Faculty Advisor to Kenrick Seminary’s Theological Journal. Vox Christi Publications is a quarterly magazine containing articles of the students and professors.
