WAKING UP – A Day of Recollection led by Fr. Tom Wyrsch at Mercy Center

Registration: 9:00 A.M. Program: 9:30 A.M. — 3:30 P.M.

November 21, 2015

In these reflections we will be WAKING UP to the inner chamber within each of us where God resides, led by St. John of the Cross, St. Teresa of Avila, and other classic writers. We will use the work of contemporary spiritual writers, as well as psychologists, for a modern understanding of arriving at this holy place and staying there as we live and work. Thomas Merton and Teilhard de Chardin will help us bring the light and life of this sacred place to our relationships, our faith communities, and to the world at large.

Presenter: Fr. Tom Wyrsch was born and raised in St. Louis, and ordained for the Archdiocese in 1978. He has served as a priest for 37 years, the last 20 of these as pastor of three parishes, currently St. Rose Philippine Duchesne in Florissant. His graduate studies in theology centered on the dialogue between religion and culture, especially as reflected in modern art. He is an abstract painter, and also plays blues and jazz music. He preaches the scripture as they open our vision to new realities and ways of living; and in his ministry, he seeks to bring the truth and life revealed in Christianity, with the life of the world at large in respectful dialogue and collaboration.
